Our Environment
Without our environment we would not be able to produce our grapes and dates. We also know that we need to be responsible stewards of what we have to ensure that future generations can keep producing on our farm.
Our key focus areas is in managing our soil and water resources. We apply conservation farming techniques in our quest to build soil health, retain soil moisture, and increase nutrients.
In addition we are producing solar power to reduce our demand from the national grid.
Every step of our process from the vine to the table is carefully monitored, ensuring that best practices are implemented across the board.
Our People
Silverlands is a major employer in Namibia with some 250 full-time staff. During the grape season, this increases to 4000. We pride ourselves on being responsible employers. Development and training are critical to the business’s future as well as the building of our team members’ careers.
The Silverlands crѐche allows parents to leave their children in a safe and educational environment daily. Some 200 children attend the crѐche during season time with 12 members of caring staff that include 2 qualified teachers. Breakfast is provided by Silverlands.
One of the challenges the community faces in their village is access to clean drinking water. We were the pioneers of a water solution for the village and continue to play a significant role in ensuring the community have access to clean drinking water in a sustainable way. In addition to this we also support a number of projects to help develop the community.
